United Way begins its 2013 campaign

Steve Parker, the well-known voice of McGruff the Crime Dog, served as a keynote speaker for the 2013 United Way fundraising campaign.

The United Way kicked off its 2013 fundraising campaign Wednesday afternoon with a luncheon event at the Pzazz Conference Center, and keynote speaker Steve Parker said he has high hopes for this year's fundraising drive.

Parker, a retired Des Moines County deputy, is best known as the national voice for McGruff the Crime Dog. He didn't wear his dog suit or use his gruff voice during the lunch, but that didn't diminish the power of his words. Click here to read more!
