Self Defense May Be the Best Offense
Wright State University Police Offer Self-Defense Classes to Residents
Wright State University Police Department in Ohio will offer self defense classes each week this October in recognition of Crime Prevention Month. The S.A.F.E. (Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange) Women's Self- Defense Awareness and Child Safety organization, in partnership with the police department, will conduct the classes to deliver top-notch strategies, techniques, options, and prevention to women and youth in the state of Ohio. Local youth will enjoy their own safety event on Saturday, October 20, 2012, where the Wright State University Police Department will highlight crime prevention and safety tips for youth within their schools and local communities. Both events are part of the Celebrate Safe Communities initiative from the National Crime Prevention Council.
Hit a Homerun with “The Watchers”
Neighborhood Watch Volunteers Host Block Party for Florida Residents
Lee County residents in Florida are in for a treat when the county deputies in the Sheriffs’ Office – also known as “Team Controlled Chaos” – play against the local Neighborhood Watch volunteers, appropriately called “The Watchers,” during a softball game on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 8:00 am. Local fans and residents are encouraged to come out to cheer on the spirited game. Family-oriented games and an assortment of delicious foods will be available directly after the game. The event is part of the Celebrate Safe Communities initiative from the National Crime Prevention Council and one of many local county activities during Crime Prevention Month.
It’s Safety First for Home Depot and Las Vegas Youth
Local Event Focuses on Crime Prevention and Fire Safety
In honor of Crime Prevention and Fire Safety months, Home Depot will hold a series of activities to teach young people about home and fire safety prevention. Saturday, October 6, at 9:00 am Home-Depot will host a workshop for older youth and a coloring contest for elementary school children among many other educational opportunities on that Saturday.
