Jr. Deputy Anti-Crime Program

Smith County Sheriff's office has one more "Jr. Deputy Anti-Crime” program coming up. We have spoken to over 2,500 children this fall about bullying, safety, and treating your teachers with respect. We have a great program that is in it's 4th year and we hope to reach many children in our Smith County. Our teachers are our success stories.

ANNUAL JR. DEPUTY ANTI-CRIME PROGRAM

Smith County Sheriff's Office participates in the Annual Jr. Deputy Anti-Crime Program by visiting the elementary schools in Smith County every fall. This program started in 2009 and has grown to 3,000 children. The schools we are visiting this year are as follows: Whitehouse Higgins Elementy, Whitehouse Cain Elementary, Lindale Early Childhood Center,Chapel Hill Jackson Elementary, Arp Elementary, Troup Elementary and Winona Elementary.

National Night Out in the Neighborhood

During the first week of each October, three neighborhood associations join together to have a neighborhood communication, crime awareness, and social function at a local park. The police and fire departments send representatives. Homeowner organization officers attend and participate.

Our McGruff program is a crime prevention program for elementary children.  We stress "Stanger Danger", safety within the community, 9-1-1 techniques, when to dial and not dial. Also mentioned safety with bullies.  We have done this in the Smith County schools for three years and spoken to thousands of children.

Bicycle Rodeo and DWI Awareness Event   

May 14, 2011 the Deer Park Police Department in conjunction with Safe Kids Greater Houston will be hosting a bicycle rodeo from 9:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  We will also be working with Baytown Police Department on the same date and time with the Simulated Impaired Driving Experience.  We invite everyone to join us.
