Safe Communities - Stand Up

Oct. 17 and the weekend of Oct. 20 crime safety bags will be handed out at school and at church in the area. Speaker will be at neighborhood school to talk to kids about bullying and how to stay safe walking to and from school. Also during that week wear your seat belt window display stickers will be handed out to business to display and several blocks will be doing walk about to report needed fixes on their block (calling 311) to make their blocks better.

Youth & Children Night

This event was designed to help strengthen families in our community. We will offer classes for the entire family along with games and fun for children which will include food, door prizes and raffle tickets. We will host a Video Game Contest for our youth.

Safe&Secure The Village of Warrensburg Celebrates Safe Communities

The Village of Warrensburg will be Celebrating Safe Communities during the week of October 9th to October 13. The Village will be teaming up with the community including the residences, businesses and schools to provide a fun and informative event. The event will include a car seat safety check done at the Warrensburg CUSD 11. The event will also include several classes to the elementary students on personal safety. On the 13th the Village will host a list of professionals that will talk about and show different methods of maintaining a safe and secure community. The topics will include home safety including lighting, construction techniques, and alarm systems. There will be topics on neighbor awareness. There will be traffic safety topics including walking, vehicle, and bike safety. We will provide a station for child safety tips and fingerprinting. We will also provide information and techniques on Financial safety and ID Theft prevention. There will be food, drink, and some entertainment provided on the 13th so the whole community can come together and enjoy a day with their neighbors and local business. This day will also provide information and techniques to help keep our community safe & secure.

Manhattan Police and Fire Community Safety Night

On July 27th, the Manhattan Police and Fire Departments co-sponsored a community safety in which we provided safety information, had displays, and provided two demonstrations of some the capabilities of our areas emergency services. The Manhattan Fire Department showed those in attendance how they extricate a victim from an overturned vehicle. The South Suburban Emergency Response Team (inter-agency swat team) gave a demonstration on how they plan and execute an operation to remove an unwilling and uncooperative person from a motor vehicle. Also on hand were various fire departments with apparatus, the Illinois State Police with a roll over simulator, the US Forestry Service displayed a brush truch, the Chicagoland Motor Speedway brought a track rescue truck with its equipment, the Cook County Bomb Squad had some of it's equipment on display and the Will County Emergency Management Agency showcased its new command vehicle. Also on hand provided safety information was Silver Cross Hospital, Metra Commuter Railways, BP, Will County 911, the Will County State's Attorney's Office and Illinois Attorney General's Office. This is a free family event in which more than 300 people attended!
