Pocatello Celebrate Safe Communities

The Pocatello Police and Fire Departments will hold a “Celebrate Safe Communities” event in early October. Our city experienced a devastating fire this summer in which, thousands of residents had to be quickly evacuated. This highlighted the need to train the community in emergency preparedness. This event will combine themes of emergency preparedness and crime prevention.

The event will include workshops on: crime prevention, personal and home safety, building your 74-hour emergency kit and CPR certification training. Displays will include: Child ID & fingerprinting, Certified Emergency Response trailer and equipment, Neighborhood Watch, National Preparedness Coalition, National Weather Service, American Red Cross, District Health, Reverse 911 and booths by vendors.

We will also use the event to recruit volunteers for Neighborhood Watch, and C.E.R.T.

Morris Hill Celebrates Safe Communities!   

Morris Hill will host a “Celebrate Safe Communities” festival on Saturday, May 12, 2012. The festival is for all ages and will go from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., all along North Orchard Street in between Fairview and Franklin. The Annual Morris Hill Neighborhood Crime Prevention Walk-A-Thon will kick-off the festival at 9:00 a.m. and McGruff the Crime Dog will take photos with the kids starting at 11:00 a.m. Live musical entertainment and local merchants offering “Celebration Specials” from noon to 4:00 p.m.
