The following activities are being planned and presented by Hallandale Beach Crime Watch for National Night Out, October 3, 2010.

Our event will be located at Peter Bluesten Park, 501 SE 1st Avenue, Hallandale Beach, Florida from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  Hallandale Beach residents, as well as the neighboring cities of Hollywood, Pembroke Park, Aventura, and North Miami Beach will be notified of events through local newspapers, the City of Hallandale Beach Web Site, and COMCAST Cable programming on the government channel.  Last year more than several hundred people attended NNO and we are expecting to exceed that number this year.

We will be addressing the National Night Out theme: “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”

by presenting back to basics community programs and services supporting residential safety and awareness, as well as supporting the efforts of Homeland Security.  For example, Hallandale Beach Crime Watch will provide information on establishing neighborhood Block Captains and building communication among residents through telephone chains.  Again, a specially prepared PowerPoint presentation, “Emergency and Disaster Planning,” will be shown in the Park’s Clubhouse facility.

The Hallandale Beach Police Department will be exhibiting and demonstrating their

services, including the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Uniformed Patrol Division, and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program.

The Police Explorers will be assisting the Police Department with “Against Car Theft In Our Neighborhood” (ACTION) program decals on vehicles.  The Police Department will be recruiting new residents for the Citizen Volunteer Programs i.e. Citizens on Patrol, Parking Enforcement, Victim Advocacy, Fingerprinting, Administrative services and much more.

Hallandale Beach Crime Watch will contribute to “PROJECT 365” through the assistance and support of the Police Department’s S.W.A.T team a mock crime scene demonstration contest where participating residents will be asked to identify and describe as accurately as possible the events of the scene.  The top three winncers who best describe the scene with the sharpest observation skills will be awarded prizes.  Police Department detectives will act as Judges.

The Hallandale Beach Fire-Rescue will display various fire safety devices.  Fire and

Paramedic units will display their vehicles and recruit new volunteers for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.

Local hospitals will be providing, health checks, backpack safety education resources, school child immunizations and a community blood drive.

Local business vendors have been invited to exhibit their crime crime prevention products and services.

City officials will be on-hand to meet and greet residents throughout the evening.

Finally, food vendors, raffle prizes and giveaways will be conducted throughout the evening.
