Neighborhood Watch is one of the oldest and most effective crime prevention programs in the country, bringing citizens together with law enforcement to deter crime and make communities safer. Launched in 1972, Neighborhood Watch counts on citizens to organize themselves and work with law enforcement to keep a trained eye and ear on their communities, while demonstrating their presence at all times of day and night.

Citizen Corps’ mission is to harness the power of every individual through education, training, and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds.

In this webinar, participants will learn the about the various types of crime watches and volunteer agencies, specifically Neighborhood Watch and Citizen Corps, and how these entities utilize basic crime prevention principles in their work.   Participants will also learn how to identify shared goals of volunteers groups and ways in which to comingle groups to maximize effectiveness.
