Safe City Celebration 2012

This city-wide event was started in 2011 in an effort to reach more residents and provide more safety information. This also provided more of an opportunity to have interaction between various divisions within the department. The K-9 Unit, SWAT, Selective Traffic Enforcement, Animal Control, and the Central Business District Unit were on site to answer questions and showcase their different vehicles. Our main focus this year was Driving Under the Influence and Child ID Kits. Selective Traffic Enforcement had their Fatal Vision Goggles available for residents to see what being under the influence does to ones vision and attempted to perform Field Sobriety Tests. Our officer also discussed Driving Under the Influence laws. We had Child ID Kits and fingerprinted many children and talked to them about Stranger Danger. The Fire Department was also on site with their Safety House and Fire Engine. Target was our sponsor again this year and was a fantastic partner to help make our event even better.
