Intended audience(s):
Business owners, Children, College or university student, staff, or faculty, Community volunteers, Homeowner or neighborhood associations, K-12 school faculty or administrators, Local elected officials, Local government agency officials (other than public safety), Local news media, Members of civic organizations, Military service members and their families, Parents, Representatives of public safety agencies besides law enforcement (fire, emergency services, emergency planning/management), Senior citizens, Teens, Watch groups (Block, Neighborhood, Business), Youth-serving organizations (B&G Clubs, YMCA, etc.)

The Town of Menasha is hosting its 7th Annual National Night Out Rally on Monday, August 2, 2009 from 4:30 to 7:30 PM at the Town Municipal Complex located at 2000 Municipal Drive, Neenah.

The event is designed to bring awareness to crime prevention efforts by (1) heightening crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generating support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) sending a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.  Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns and neighborhoods “celebrate” NNO with a variety of events and activities such as block parties, cookouts, visits from local police and fire departments, parades, flashlight walks, contests and youth programs.

This year the Town of Menasha is joining the awareness campaign by hosting a “rally” at their Municipal Complex.  There will be displays, police and fire department activities, solar electric system tours, and free bike helmets…while they last.  The Park and Recreation Department will have inflatable activities and games for the kids.

This years highlight will be a Touch a Truck event.  This event will feature vehicles from all different jobs including a live television truck, crane, airport crash rescue, armored money carrier, tow truck and many more!!!  Kids and parents will be able to take a look inside these vehicles and learn more about them.

There will be brats, hotdogs, sweet corn, bottled water and soda for sale.

This event is open to people of all ages with something of interest for everyone.  Join us as we stand strong against crime, drugs and violence and send a message to criminals that we will not tolerate crimes against individuals or the community!
