The City of Titusville Police Department will celebrate McGruff's birthday and Safe Communities in October by a combination of information sharing and relationship building. We have found that the most effective way to prevent crime is not only to educate our community, but build strong relationships with our citizens.

Our crime prevention and awarness event will be held on October 16, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the American Police Hall of Fame, 6350 Horizon Dr. Titusville. There will be a bounce house, rock climbing, and free admission to the Police Hall of Fame. We will have a Police K-9 demonstration, a Child ID kit booth available for parents to obtain their child's fingerprints and DNA samples, police vehicle displays including ATVs and a SWAT truck, as well as crime prevention booklets designed for all ages. Members of our volunteer community watch patrols will be on hand to discuss our crime prevention program and recruit volunteers to particpate.

Free refreshments, including hot dogs and drinks, will be provided. We will also be giving away free promotional items that emphasize our department's website and non-emergency phone numbers. We have found that citizens willingness to contact us and pass on information is one of the most effective ways we can prevent crime and apprehend criminals.

Come help us celebrate Safe Communities Month in Titusville!
