South Miami Weed & Seed Celebrating Safe Communities Carnival

South Miami Weed & Seed in partnership with the University of Miami will be hosting a community carnival in celebration of safe communities.

Business owners, Children, College or university student, staff, or faculty, Community volunteers, Homeowner or neighborhood associations, K-12 school faculty or administrators, Local elected officials, Local government agency officials (other than public safety), Local news media, Members of civic organizations, Military service members and their families, Parents, Representatives of public safety agencies besides law enforcement (fire, emergency services, emergency planning/management), Senior citizens, Teens, Watch groups (Block, Neighborhood, Business), Youth-serving organizations (B&G Clubs, YMCA, etc.)


The event will take place at the South Miami Community Center's Murray Park on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 12pm-4pm.  South Miami residents, as well as the neighboring cities of Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Perrine, Kendall, and Richmond Heights will be notified of events through local newspapers, the City of South Miami website, and cable programming on the local government channel.

At the event we will  provide information on establishing neighborhood Block Groups and building communication among residents and reinforcing positive interactions with our Police Department.  The South Miami Police Department will be exhibiting and demonstrating their services, specificially our Community Patrol Unit.  Food vendors, raffle prizes and giveaways will be conducted throughout the evening.
