Start Date: October 1, 2008
City, State: Napoleonville, LA
Intended audience(s):
Business owners, Children, Community volunteers, Local elected officials, Local government agency officials (other than public safety), Local news media, Parents, Representatives of public safety agencies besides law enforcement (fire, emergency services, emergency planning/management), Senior citizens, Teens, Watch groups (Block, Neighborhood, Business), Youth-serving organizations (B&G Clubs, YMCA, etc.)

Napoleonville planned an event for August 3,2010 for the national night out against crime. The event was cancelled due to a lack of sponsors. I am hoping this event turns out better. We have received a few donations. We are planning to have fun with family, friends, and food. We want to send a message to the community that we will not stand for crime and also give the them as many resources as possile. We have obtained handouts for adults and kids on topics such as alcohol, tobacco, drugs, highway safety, etc. We plan to have a D.J. for entertainment or a live band if possible. We will also have spacewalks for the kids. We are also asking different agencies such as work connection, assumption parish federal programs department, assumption parish health unit, assumption parish registrar of voters, etc. to set up booths to offer information to citizens. We will raffle off items and gift bags from local sponsors. A few community leaders will make speaches. There will be door prizes.
