The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department hosts a monthly "First Tuesday" community gathering to enhance police and community relationships. October, being National Crime Prevention Month, "First Tuesday" at our Northwest Area Command will recognize Celebrate Safe Communities with an enhanced gathering focusing on awareness, prevention and involvement - the key elements in having a safe community.  Participants will be actively engaged in scenarios to demonstrate crime prevention respsonses to varied situations.   Role playing will be used to provide a visual effect for the audience and allow the participants a chance to assume roles outside of their everyday comfort zone.  The goal is to provide situational awareness when faced with making a crime prevention decision that will reduce the chances of victimization.  The best crime prevention is citizen attention!  That is the message to be reinforced for this event.
