Indian River Celebrates Safe Communities Month

To enhance and educate our local communites on safety issues and recruitment of neighbors.

Start Date: October 1, 2008
City, State: Indian River County, different locations, FL
Intended audience(s):
Business owners, Children, Community volunteers, Homeowner or neighborhood associations, Local elected officials, Local news media, Members of civic organizations, Parents, Senior citizens

Hoping this year will be better when it comes to educating the neighborhoods on the importance of Neighborhood Watch and community involvement.  The plan this year is to have the neighborhoods do information flyers, activity's and a recruitment session's to help neighbors better understand the importance of being involved.

I have many neighborhood watch groups that want to get involved but do not know how.  This year will be a campaign, of sorts, to recruit and educate.  Get information out through our local paper, news stations and internet.

It is important to get the word out.  Citizen's our are number one defense against crime.
