I am Too Good for Drugs and Violence Walk and Kidfest

Walk, banner contest, and community fair for children and families to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and take a stand against violence.

On October 2, 2010 6,000 children and their families will descend on the campus of Tampa, Florida's Museum of Science and Industry for the Mendez Foundation’s 25th annual I am Too Good for Drugs and Violence Walk and KidFest. The Too Good for Drugs and Violence Walk and KidFest is a free one-day event for children and families to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and involve youth in leadership against drugs, bullying, and violence in our community. Attendees will participate in a banner contest, fun activities, interact with VIPs, and enjoy entertainment from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

 

The Mendez Foundation is a private, not-for-profit organization providing drug and violence prevention education in Hillsborough County Public Schools. The Mendez Foundation has been developing and implementing nationally recognized prevention education programs for more than thirty years.  The Mendez Foundation’s Too Good for Drugs and Violence reaches thousands of children in grades K-12 with evidence-based, skill-building programs that positively impact the lives of students, teachers, parents and community leaders nationwide. The Mendez Foundation believes that prevention education is a sound investment in today’s young people and future leaders.

 

The Mendez Foundation's partners in presenting the 25th annual I am Too Good for Drugs and Violence Walk and Kidfest are Hillsborough County (Criminal Justice) and the City of Tampa. The Hillsborough County Criminal Justice Liaison, through a coordinated partnership with the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Mendez Foundation, provides for a comprehensive community based substance abuse and violence prevention effort serving the entire Hillsborough County area.
