Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods

We urge citizens, government agencies, institutions, and businesses to invest in the power of prevention and work together to make the community stronger and safer.

Start Date: October 1, 2008
City, State: Gilbert, AZ
Intended audience(s):
Children, Community volunteers, Homeowner or neighborhood associations, Local news media, Parents, Senior citizens, Teens, Watch groups (Block, Neighborhood, Business)

In cooperation with “Celebrate Safe Communities”, an initiative through the National Crime Prevention Council, we encourage all neighborhood leaders to host a G.A.I.N. event (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) to promote crime prevention in Gilbert.   The purpose of G.A.I.N. is to heighten crime awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and build community relations.  A good neighbor is one of the most effective crime prevention tools ever invented. G.A.I.N. is the result of a joint effort between a diverse group of government and community driven organizations across the entire state of Arizona.

Although citizens are encouraged to host an event any time during the month of October, the Gilbert Police Department has declared October 16, 2010 as the official G.A.I.N. day.  On this day, the Police Department will visit your registered G.A.I.N. event upon request.
