FFUN's Multicultural Family Picnic Celebrating Unity & Peace

Community wide multicultural family event.

Start Date: October 1, 2008
City, State: Memphis, TN
Intended audience(s):
Children, Local elected officials, Local news media, Members of civic organizations, Parents, Representatives of public safety agencies besides law enforcement (fire, emergency services, emergency planning/management), Senior citizens, Teens, Watch groups (Block, Neighborhood, Business), Youth-serving organizations (B&G Clubs, YMCA, etc.)

Freedom From Unnecessary Negatives, F.F.U.N., a community-based economic and social program for youths and young adults (ages 10-24), operating under a 501(c)(3) status, seeks to provide community-based and holistic alternatives to the economic, civic, and social lifestyles of at risk youth. Our solution includes prevention, intervention, and re-entry programs.

The purpose of this event is to bring families and communities together. We believe when we get to know and trust one another we can truly create safe communities and schools for our youth.  This event is a critical step in showing young people how to appreciate and respect people from different backgrounds and beliefs.
