Developing Local SAR Teams to Assist Law Enforcement Agencies

Starting local search, rescue, recovery and disaster response teams to assist Law Enforcement agencies. Provide education and training to communities.

Business owners, College or university student, staff, or faculty, Community volunteers, Homeowner or neighborhood associations, K-12 school faculty or administrators, Local elected officials, Local government agency officials (other than public safety), Local news media, Members of civic organizations, Military service members and their families, Parents, Representatives of public safety agencies besides law enforcement (fire, emergency services, emergency planning/management), Senior citizens, Watch groups (Block, Neighborhood, Business), Youth-serving organizations (B&G Clubs, YMCA, etc.)

USHERO is an all volunteer 501C3 organization headquartered in Austin.  We are working to set up local teams around Texas to train in search, rescue, recovery and disaster response that would be available to their local agencies to assist at no cost in times of need.  Members receive certifications from the SFFMA (State Firemen's & Fire Marshal's Association of Texas).  We are a multi-disciplined organization specializing in Wilderness, Light Urban, K9, Water and Technicial rescues.  Also setting up Support Teams to assist local SAR teams.  Teams also support their communities by providing training and education in these areas such as with the Hug A Tree program.    Academy classes are currently going on monthly in Dallas and Austin, Texas.  If interested in joining a unit or starting a unit in your area, please contact peggy.adkins@ushero.org or alan.huddleston@ushero.org for more information or to answer questions.
