Stranger Danger and Child Abduction
A National Night Out event will deal with stranger danger and child abduction. The purpose is to provide the public with as much information as possible. The event is free to the public. It will be held on August 2.

Cedar Park Celebrates Safe Communities
The Cedar Park Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association will host joint crime prevention events in Neighborhood Watch areas throughout Cedar Park and conduct a drive to recruit more Neighborhood Watch members. The goal is to sign up as many homeowners' associations as possible. Educational booths will be featured.

City of Tyler 2011 Summer Playground Program
Smith County Sheriff's Office was invited to entertain children with its Junior Deputy Anti-Crime Program. At these events, a volunteer uses a McGruff the Crime Dog puppet and Deputy Glen Barnes tells children about stranger danger, summer safety, gun safety, bullying prevention, and gangs. In addition, the 9-1-1 Smith County coordinator explains when 9-1-1 should be contacted. "Junior Deputy" badges are then handed out to the children.

The picnic is designed to reach out to individuals in the neighborhood who have experienced financial difficulties as a result of the poor state of the economy. The organizers will try to provide spiritual counseling, a meal, family fun, and a pair of shoes for children who attend. The local fire department will teach fire safety.

Bicycle Rodeo and DWI Awareness Event
The Deer Park Police Department, in conjunction with Safe Kids Greater Houston, will host a bicycle rodeo on May 14, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The police department, in conujunction with the Baytown Police Department, will also present a simulated impaired driving experience at the same date and time. Indian Springs Block Party
Indian Springs Neighborhood Watch Committee will host its second annual National Night Out block party. This Celebrate Safe Communities event will kick off Crime Prevention Month. There will be food, music, games, and safety information for children. The event will promote home safety and working together to keep the community safe. Special guests will include the Bexar County Sheriff's Department and Bexar-Bulverde Fire Department. Other activities will take place at the neighborhood's fall festival and on Halloween.
